The way you wake up in the morning can set the tone for your entire day. Beginning the day on the right foot is so important for increasing your energy and productivity as well as boosting your mood! Check out these 7 morning rituals that will keep you feeling energized all day.
Wake up earlier than usual.
When you wake up earlier than you normally would, you give yourself that extra time to mentally prepare for the day. You have time to do more of what you want before heading off to work or jumping into errands. Of course, it’s important to make sure you’re going to sleep earlier than usual as well so that you get plenty of rest and wake up feeling refreshed.
Drink a full glass of water.
Our bodies tend to become incredibly dehydrated overnight, whether we realize it or not. Pour a tall glass (or two) of water as soon as you wake up. You’ll be surprised by how quickly you gulp it down! Proper hydration actually gives you tons of energy, so it’s the perfect way to start your day.
Move your body.
The way we sleep can create tension in our bodies. Do you ever wake up with a stiff neck or sore back? The tighter our bodies are, the more likely we are to experience a personal injury of some kind. Even if you only spend 10 minutes stretching, it’s such a fantastic way to keep your muscles and joints supple and energize yourself first thing in the morning.
Before you open up your phone to check emails in the morning or start running through your list of what you need to do, set aside a few minutes for meditation. You can even set a timer on your phone to make it a little easier. Closing your eyes and focusing on your breath is a great way to get started. Set up a cozy corner somewhere where you can sit on a cushion in silence, even if it’s only three minutes at a time. You can slowly work your way up to as long as you need!
Clean off your workspace.
If you work from home, spend a few minutes clearing off your workspace. Starting your day with a clean slate is an awesome way to get intentional on your to-dos and stay focused on what’s in front of you.
Write down your goals for the day.
Make a quick list of your goals for the day, no matter how small they might feel. Start with the tasks that are your highest priority, and focus on the top three. Having a clear to-do list is a great way to stay on track throughout the day.
Nourish your body.
Instead of a heavy breakfast, try making a smoothie or fresh juice. The nutrients from fruits and vegetables will give you so much energy without weighing you down while you digest.
